Youth Photography Group

Iseult ran a photography group for 8 – 12 year olds in partnership with the YMCA between December 2008 and March 2009.  The young people used a 5x4 camera for taking each others portraits and digital cameras to create their own body shape alphabet.  This alphabet was used to design banners for NGARN’s Big Splash event in March, spelling out the networks theme words: love, live, life and learn.

The group also attended a Burns night, with traditional Scottish music, dancing and food put on by students at North Glasgow college, hosted by Tron St. Mary’s church.

Impact Arts also collaborated with this group, running 5 sessions that involved over 20 young people in making collages from drawings and photographs to create colourful boards that were displayed on the estate.

Many of the group went onto be involved in the camera obscura workshops and the carnival parade during the West End Festival.

There will be an exhibition of their photographic work in the re-furbished community resource at the YMCA in the summer.
